EMMY REDUX

The Emmy's is inevitably closer to date (yes, it's tomorrow) I'm here and back on the business to tell you who I think will win grinning like a schoolboy for winning the top prize!
So, are you game? If so, let us start with the drama section..

OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES

Breaking Bad
Dexter
Lost
Mad Men
The Good Wife
True Blood

Who will win? Mark my words: this will be third time in a row, it's either Mad Men or nothing. You don't just nominate Mad Men, you make them your champion. It's an Emmy rule.

Who should win? For starter, I think The Good Wife is off with a thrilling and addicting season. It's a plot that you can no longer not think about, it's compelling and very sympathetic for viewers. The disgraced politician's wife off to a rough yet surprising start, it's a very realistic moment.

The Dark Horse? Don't count it that much but Lost might 'steal' the trophy from Mad Men with its final season (despite a disappointing finale)

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad
Hugh Laurie, House
Jon Hamm, Mad Men
Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights
Matthew Fox, Lost
Michael C. Hall, Dexter

Who will win? With the wins in Golden Globe and Screen Actor Guild, it's a safe assumption to point out Michael C. Hall as a winner. However, it's Emmy's and they have different standards approaching winning criteria. Whatever it is, Michael C.Hall is still a front-runner

Who should win? I wouldn't be that biased but I can't help to vote for Hugh Laurie. I mean he's always amazing, yet he had this egregious snubs and I'm just too sick to watch him losing for another year.

Dark Horse? It's a three-peat for Bryan Cranston? Let's just say, keep your minds open to every possibility people!

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES

Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights
Glenn Close, Damages
January Jones, Mad Men
Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife
Kyra Sedgwick, Closer
Mariska Hargitay, Law&Order:SVU

Who will win? I think it has been locked to Julianna Margulies. Her strong performance as the disgraced politician's wife brought the critics down on their knees. Shall I say, she already bagged half of the Emmy's statue.

Who should win? For the same reason, I believe Julianna Margulies should win this one. She's just affectionate towards the camera with her 'Poker' Face attitude and the despair of the harsh reality acting, she's the perfect winner

Dark Horse? I know, you don't count on it that much but Glenn Close may have her three-peat after all. If she just submitted the right episode for consideration that is

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad
Andre Braugher, Men of Certain Age
John Slattery, Mad Men
Martin Short, Damages
Michael Emerson, Lost
Terry O'Quinn, Lost

Who will win? Between Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn, I would put my money on O'Quinn for his staggeringly brilliant performance in the finale. Beside he's an Emmy's favorite! (not that I say Michael Emerson is not one)

Who should win? IDK, I can't decide, everyone has been so brilliant in this season I guess

Dark Horse? There's a certain possibility that Aaron Paul might snatch this one away!

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Archie Panjabi, The Good Wife
Christina Hendricks, Mad Men
Christine Baranski, The Good Wife
Elizabeth Moss, Mad Men
Rose Bryne, Damages

Who will win? Lots of buzzes have been whispering to me, it's Christina Hendricks but I wouldn't count it that much since she has some heavy competitors, say, Christine Baranski is a powerful contender. At one of the Good Wife episode, she gave me chills even by not appearing in the screen, just plain her voice.

Who should win? It's Christine Baranski for the reason I gave you before

Dark Horse? There's a possibility for Rose Bryne to win with the outstanding Ellen's progress in the latest season of Damages

OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES
30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Glee
Modern Family
Nurse Jackie
The Office

Who will win? I'm sorry gleeks, but the Emmy won't go that mainstream and give a statue for this year. Count on Modern Family to win this one with hilarious and formula based comedy, the gays, the plays, and the frays!

Who should win? It's enough to see how much of gleeks I am. Glee for the win!

Dark Horse? We seem to get so excited with new series that we completely forgot the big boss, 30 rock. Hey it's Tina Fey, she can be Ms Vice President, she can take the Emmy's home!

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm
Matthew Morrison, Glee
Steve Carrel, The Office
Tony Shalhoub, Monk

Who will win? It's Alec to the Baldwin. He has won this award ever since..the show started!

Who should win? I absolutely adore Jim Parsons in The Big Bang Theory. I think he's one piece of work! (in a good way)

Dark Horse? It's Steve Carrel's last season, who knows Emmy's might be just like us, not ready to let him go!

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
Amy Poehler, Parks & Recreation
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie
Julie Louis-Dreyfus, The New Old Adventure of Christine
Lea Michelle, Glee
Tina Fey, 30 Rock
Toni Colette, United States of Tara

Who will win? It's either Fey or Falco? it's the double F combination! As for previous year champ, she's not doing that well this season, at least not good enough to take home the Emmy's

Who should win? Usual stuff, Fey!

Dark Horse?
She's funny as hell and she's Amy Poelher!

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
Chris Colfer, Glee
Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family
Jesse Tyler, Modern Family
Jon Cryer, Two and Half Men
Neil Patrick Harris, How I meet your mother
Ty Burrel, Modern Family

I WOULD SAY, Everything in the category belongs to Ty Burrel for his amazing performance in Modern Family as Phil Dunphy! I would be super pissed if he lost this one!

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
Holland Taylor, Two and A Half Men
Jane Krawoski, 30 Rock
Jane Lynch, Glee
Julie Bowen, Modern Family
Kristen Wiig, Saturday Nights Live
Sofia Vegara, Modern Family

Who will win? It's either Jane Lynch or TV fans will be losing their temper. I mean very Kanye west like.

Who should win? For her portrayal as material girl, Jane Lynch deserves this!

Dark Horse? I wouldn't be blindsided and not consider the possibility of Julie Bowen is near to the end in this race.

So what do you say? Who do you think will win the top prize?
SPEAK UP :)

Emmy's Prediction: Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in Drama Category

With the Emmy nomination coming up, it's about time to release my take on who's gonna walk away with the top honor and who's gonna go home empty handed. Let's analyze the possibility of each of our contenders, shall we?

Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama Category

#1 Michael C. Hall in Dexter

C. Hall has projected an early prediction of winning the prize. Looking from the past months, C.Hall has snagged not only Golden Globe but also Screen Actor Guild award, making him a strong contender in ending Bryan Cranston's reign. Last season of Dexter has been on its best, adding with murder and emotional breakdown of Dexter, it's hard to get through C.Hall's skin for this year.
Status: Very Strong (4 out of 5)

#2 Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad

Here, we're talking about two times champion which makes it a safe bet to assume that he's gonna walk away with this one. I'm not a huge fan of Breaking Bad, however I have to admit that Cranston showed a lot of brilliance and poignant in his character.
Status: Very Strong (4 out of 5)

#3 Hugh Laurie in House M.D

Hugh Laurie has always been the person that we're rooting for to win. Too bad, Emmy hasn't realized that Dr.Cranky Pants is nothing but genius in portraying this Sherlock Holmes resemble character. Laurie started the season with strong, compelling performance and ended with a stunning and every humanly as possible. It's hard to imagine Laurie losing this one again. Thus, let's root Laurie for another year!
Status: Strong, everyone's favorite (3.5 out of 5)

#4 Jon Hamm in Mad Men

Like any other, Hamm is an always present in nominee with his critically praised series, Mad Men. However, the chances of him taking the top prize is doubtful. Hamm in Mad Men is attractive at first, but can be boring after a while. It's not that Hamm is a bad actor but Don Drapper is just another of your cowboy casanova in a tux.
Status: Modest (2.5 out of 5)

#5 Matthew Fox in Lost

The newest one to join after 6 years of wait. No offense, the reason that Fox got into this place is that Lost was in its final season. They want to give a proper goodbye, that's all. Yes, Jack can be elusive sometimes, but yet, it's not all Fox's work. The finale was supposed to be epic for him, but..it's just rather disappointing to me, and possibly for the critics.
Status: Low (2 out of 5)

#6 Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights

Some of the people keep buzzing about Chandler's outstanding performance. Personally, I couldn't give further comment without watching cause that would be unfair. However, with these powerful gentlemen leading the pack, it would be hard for Chandler to pull an upset.
Status: Low (2 out of 5)

Who will Win? Michael C. Hall
Who Should Win? Hugh Laurie

Outstanding Lead Actress in Drama Category

#1 Julianna Margulies in The Good Wife

or 2 years, Glenn Close has created her reign, where everyone's possibility of winning would be close to zero point. However, this year, a not so newcomer in Emmy (Margulies has won Emmy for her work in E.R) is most likely to pull an upset. Margulies appeared in critically praised and highly rated show, The Good Wife. Margulies portraying the struggle of the disgraced politician wife, that was coming back to her work as a litigator. The performance not only strong but also compelling yet contemplative to some of the viewers. Margulies created such a character that everyone is rooting for and wanting to know what's gonna happen next. This girl is the right one to end Close's two year reign.
Status: Set Locked (5 out of 5)

#2 Glenn Close in Damages

You can't ignore such a strong performance from Close who is now in her 3rd season of Damages. The Tobin case is powerful, critically praised, and of course put the spotlight back on Close. However, with Margulies present, it will be hard for Close to dominate this year Emmy. If it wasn't for Margulies' outstanding performance, I would say that Close got this one wrapped around under her finger.
Status: Strong but Careful For Margulies (4 out of 5)

#3 Kyra Sedgwick in The Closer

This one I can say it's a bit overdue. Sedgwick has been in the nomination for the last 5 or 6 years! This is an example of a constant outstanding work from Sedgwick. She has never done better but never done worse. She's always a favor in the nomination but not enough to take down the others especially with the heavy competition between Close and Margulies.
Status: Modest (3 out of 5)

#4 Connie Britton in Friday Night Lights

Once again a newcomer in this category but a favorite of the viewers. I haven't watched her performance but I can say she got a lot of good reviews to back her up.
Status: Modest (3 out of 5)

#5 January Jones in Mad Men

I'm sorry, I don't get it why she's nominated. Yes, Betty went through a lot of change this season but it's not good enough for Jones to be nominated. Her character is not the strongest one and yet it's not the likeable one too.
Status: Low (2 out of 5)

#6 Mariska Hargitay in Law and Order:SVU

We thought that she wouldn't get nominated for this year, but in fact she is. Like I said, it's about the safe bet. Her spot should've been filled with outstanding performance from Ellen Pompeo or Emily Deschanel that have given quite stuns this season.
Status: Low (1 out of 5)

Who Will Win? Julianna Margulies
Who Should Win? Julianna Margulies

Other parts are coming up :)
