OSCAR 2010: RECAP!

Okay here, I'm gonna recap on some of the major awards and my takes on them! :) Here we go..

BEST PICTURE

The Hurt Locker

Predicted Before? BETWEEN YES AND NO!

My take: I’m so glad that the Oscar isn’t following those mainstreams with Avatar! Since I think as much as I love Avatar, is it Best Picture worthy? I mean yes, we have this great visual effect but what about the casts and all of that? While on the other hand, The Hurt Locker is a simple yet moving visual with great actors and actresses behind it and of course, the first female director, Kathryn Bigelow!

BEST DIRECTOR

Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker

Predicted Before? Ongoing debate but well, 60% said YES

My take: GO BIGELOW! Ever since, she’s nominated in this award season, I’ve been rooting for her to make a history and finally, she did it! With a very poised and soft personality, Bigelow proves she can be hardcore by directing a ‘boys-only’ movie! Kudos to her! I hope with her winning more chances are given to women in winning this category!

BEST ACTOR IN LEADING ROLE

Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart

Predicted Before? 99,99% sure it would be him!

My take: Jeff Bridges is a clear winner on this category! Even Clooney said so! I mean, he has been ruling throughout the award season. The only big competitor for him is Colin Firth but admit it, the lightning won’t struck twice for gay plot line, huh?

BEST ACTRESS IN LEADING ROLE

Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side

Predicted Before? It’s her or Meryl, but maybe 70% her, 30% Meryl

My take: I don’t what would happen if Sandy didn’t take home this one! Everyone has been campaigning for her winning and well, she’s an absolute sweetheart. For start, she has the best acceptance speech! Second, she’s a very humble yet box-office giant actress! Third, as much as we love Meryl, we do know right that this is Sandy’s year?

BEST ACTOR IN SUPPORTING ROLE

Christoph Waltz, Inglorious Basterds

Predicted Before? Call me crazy but without watching the show, I already he’s the winner

My take: The evil cunning Nazi leader strikes back and this time around, he takes home the golden statue! Frankly speaking, at first of the movie, we all root for Pitt to be nominated in the Oscar. But oh well, where’s he now? I mean, Waltz is not a well known actor before who has proved that fame has nothing to do with his great acting!

BEST ACTRESS IN SUPPORTING ROLE

Mo’Nique, Precious

Predicted Before? 100 times ‘I knew it!’

My take: Well, I guess winning comes with size huh? Oh kidd! Well, to be honest, Mo’nique isn’t my favorite actress! However, I have to admit that in this movie, she takes it all good! And you know what, she rules with that size of hers! :p
