okay here are my prediction, and we'll see by tomorrow! :D
MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA:
Avatar
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
Up in the Air
Who will win: Big chance, The Hurt Locker will win. As you can see, we want a girl to succeed more than we do with guys and you know what, The Hurt Locker seems to make the most logical sense since its point of uniqueness and glory in Critics Choice Award yesterday!
Who should win: I'll say Avatar, because of the plot, the visual and everything! Avatar is epic, put us into another world, and definitely Golden Globe worthy winning. But you know what, Inglorious Basterds is also one of my favorite. It's quirky, sassy, violent, but yet magical in Tarantino's way.
Dark Horse: I have to say here, Precious is the dark horse. We love some racial stuff but with these type of competition, ouch, hard to win!
DRAMA ACTRESS:
Emily Blunt, The Young Victoria
Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Helen Mirren, The Last Station
Carey Mulligan, An Education
Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
Who will win: Sandra Bullock. This girl has been everyone's favorite and you know what? She'll win not because she's America's sweetheart but she brought a heart wrenching performance in The Blind Side. Plus adding the fact with generating Box Office success with this movie speaks for itself!
Who should win: Sandra Bullock's rule applied in here too! But mostly because this performance of hers is one of the most outstanding dramatical performance I've ever witnessed!
Dark Horse: Let's say, we don't expect Emily Blunt to win. We even possibly forget about the movie but you know what, some old English classic movie will probably be a favorite too!
DRAMA ACTOR:
Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
George Clooney, Up in the Air
Colin Firth, A Single Man
Morgan Freeman, Invictus
Tobey Maguire, Brothers
Who will win: Jeff Bridges because oh well, it's been a long time for him and we all know how much a dramatic longing winning is favorite. Let's say it's like Kate Winslet's situation last year. Of course, Critics Choice Award result also helped me with predicting this one!
Who should win: I guess, George Clooney is my favorite to win, not because he's 'George, two times sexiest man alive' but because Mr. Clooney can put some gr8 acting skills to his charming face and personality! :) But well, I also love Colin Firth in A Single Man, God knows how much America loves gay issues
Dark Horse: We all know that Tobey Maguire stands small chance of winning but that would be a gr8 surprise that he'd win! So, we always pick for the underdog!
MOTION PICTURE - COMEDY:
500 Days of Summer
The Hangover
It's Complicated
Julie & Julia
Nine
Who will win: Well, It's a stiff competition between The Hangover and 500 Days of Summer. For The Hangover, the Box Office factor kicks in but for 500 days of summer the indie flick reason stands! So what's it gonna be?
Who should win: I'll say 500 days of summer because you know what, I always expect happy ending in this kind of movie but boy I was wrong. Like the movie said "This is not a love story, this is a story about love." That speaks for itself!
Dark Horse: I know it'll be kinda hard for Nine to win. But well, gr8 casts, why not?
COMEDY ACTRESS:
Sandra Bullock, The Proposal
Marion Cotillard, Nine
Julia Roberts, Duplicity
Meryl Streep, It's Complicated
Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia
Who will win: Meryl Streep in Julie and Julie because when I watched the movie, we don't see Meryl as the moviestar Meryl, we see her as Julia Child, a woman who loved cooking. That's the element that we're looking for from an actor/actress. In addition, we all know that Meryl is the best actress America has ever had! Period!
Who should win: I can list 100 reasons and go on but like I said, Meryl Streep is the best actress that America has ever had!
Dark Horse: I guess, we all think that Julia Roberts will not win but well, I kinda want her to you know at least be recognized because her performance in Duplicity is deviously amazing! :)
COMEDY ACTOR:
Matt Damon, The Informant!
Daniel Day-Lewis, Nine
Robert Downey Jr., Sherlock Holmes
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 500 Days of Summer
Michael Stuhlbarg, A Serious Man
Who will win: Robert Downey Jr. Well, 2nd thing that America loves aside from money is a comeback. Downey Jr. is a perfect example of coming back from a hot mess. Yet, his performance in Sherlock Holmes was like extremely amazing!
Who should win: For the same reason, Robert Downey Jr.
Dark Horse: I know that Joseph Gordon Levitt is not a big experienced in this award kind of thing actor but believe it or not, everyone wants him to win. That performance in 500 days of summer? I, i mean we, totally buy it!
SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Penelope Cruz, Nine
Vera Farmiga, Up in the Air
Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air
Mo'Nique, Precious
Julianne Moore, A Single Man
Who will win: It's easy to predict this one, Mo'nique will win this one because this dramatic thing of her is not ghetto, it's highly understandable to some people! Plus the issue that she brings, total big time!
Who should win: Odd to say, but Anna Kendrick is one of my favorite to win! Not because of Twilight madness, but I'm amazed of how this girl transform from teen talkative girl in Twilight to well, possibly Oscar nominated actress. However, Penelope Cruz also deserves some winning, don't you think?
Dark Horse: Aww, I know lots of you don't think Julianne Moore stands a chance but well, she's an experience, award winning actress, she'll manage to steal your attention once in a while.
SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Matt Damon, Invictus
Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
Christopher Plummer, The Last Station
Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds
Who will win: Christoph Waltz, that Lt. Hans Landa thing? creeps the hell out of people! Plus, this guy is like 'Nazi' so Globes will make him win. PS. Knew it from the moment I saw him in the movie that this guy is Oscar material, the way he laughed and glared? totally!
Who should win: Christoph Waltz, yes, he makes one hella of impression here!
Dark Horse: I know we don't think Matt Damon to win but that's what Dark Horse is, we know he probably will not win but we still want him to win!
DIRECTOR:
Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
James Cameron, Avatar
Clint Eastwood, Invictus
Jason Reitman, Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds
Who will win: From what I can see (Critics and all), Kathryn Bigelow will win! She beautifully directed a unique movie and her biggest competitor, ex hubby, James Cameron might have to kiss this one bye bye!
Who should win: In the spirit of sisterhood, I'll say Kathryn Bigelow
Dark Horse: Jeez, Clint Eastwood is not a favorite to win this year but you know what, we always kinda want him to win! (Last year's changeling probably deserves some award for this one, speaking how Angelina praised this guy!)
SCREENPLAY:
Neill Blomkamp & Terri Tatchell, District 9
Mark Boal, The Hurt Locker
Nancy Meyers, It's Complicated
Jason Reitman & Sheldon Turner, Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds
Who will win: Easy to say, Quentin Tarantino because of his sick twisted brilliant mind, we all can enjoy violence movie all at once!
Who should win: Oh jeez, Mr. Tarantino?
Dark Horse: I'll say the guy from District Nine, but he's not my dark horse, he's probably not everyone's so Nancy Meyers' it's complicated anyone? I love it, what about u?
ORIGINAL SCORE:
Michael Giacchino, Up
Marvin Hamlisch, The Informant!
James Horner, Avatar
Abel Korzeniowski, A Single Man
Karen O. & Carter Burwell, Where the Wild Things Are
Who will and should win: For this one, I can't say much because Sherlock Holmes isn't nominated but I'll say Up? That's the safest one!
Dark Horse: SHERLOCK HOLMES (upss, sorry!)
ORIGINAL SONG:
"Cinema Italiano", Nine (Maury Yeston)
"I Want to Come Home", Everybody's Fine (Paul McCartney)
"I Will See You", Avatar (James Horner, Simon Franglen, Kuk Harrell)
"The Weary Kind", Crazy Heart (Ryan Bingham, T Bone Burnett)
"Winter", Brothers (U2, Bono)
Who will and should win: Because I freaking love this song, so Cinema Italiano!
Dark Horse: What about some blockbuster flick's soundtrack, like I will see you? We know that this song is amazing!
ANIMATED FEATURE FILM:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Coraline
Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Princess and the Frog
Up
Who will and should win: UP!
Dark Horse: No need of dark horse here, we know anything but Up is dark horse!
DRAMA SERIES:
Big Love
Dexter
House
Mad Men
True Blood
Who will win: I guess, with the vampire mania, True Blood? But I think House also stands a chance because the twisted plot from last season was brilliant! What about when Amber scared the hell out of House? brilliant!
Who should win: For its amazing season, House should definitely win! Between, hallucination, someone quit, killing a patient, hallucinative sex, and mental institution, what else we're missing in here?
Dark Horse: I know that we don't see Big Love winning but don't be surprised if Globes hands this one out!
DRAMA ACTRESS:
Glenn Close, Damages
January Jones, Mad Men
Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife
Anna Paquin, True Blood
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer
Who will win: It's between Glenn Close or last year winner, Anna Paquin. But expect more of Close to win because her performance in Damages is magical! She's intimidating, sassy, manipulative, and hypocrite living in this world that's full of corrupt, manipulation, and self-loathing.
Who should win: I still stand by what I said before, Glenn Close scared the hell out of me but that makes me keep watching her!
Dark Horse: Jeez, it's no place to say, but Kyra Sedgwick is my favorite to win! Yes, she has won before. But a shot at Globes means a shot at the Emmy's which I am longing her to win! Plus, she has graciously losing every year that makes me want to give her something!
DRAMA ACTOR:
Simon Baker, The Mentalist
Michael C. Hall, Dexter
Jon Hamm, Mad Men
Hugh Laurie, House
Bill Paxton, Big Love
Who will win: It's a stiff one between, Hugh Laurie and John Hamm. One is a painful, irritating genius, and one is the classic dapper man we always fantasize
Who should win: I make the team, it's called #Hugh Laurieforwinning
Dark Horse: Expect someone called Simon Baker to be recognized as much as I love The Mentalist!
COMEDY SERIES:
30 Rock
Entourage
Glee
Modern Family
The Office
Who will win: Big chance that Glee as the most nominated will win this one! America loves Glee, the singing kids that always makes us dance. So 30 rock may have to kiss this one goodbye!
Who should win: Glee cause we want some 'losers' to win too! They're this close of being the next American Idol!
Dark Horse: Well, there's no such thing as Dark Horse here because we genuinely know who will win!
COMEDY ACTRESS:
Toni Collette, United States of Tara
Courteney Cox, Cougar Town
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie
Tina Fey, 30 Rock
Lea Michele, Glee
Who will win: It's an enough said with Edie Falco falling flat in comedy and Toni Collete not getting enough love from America that the next America's funny sweetheart as in Tina Fey will get this one, like last year, and the year before!
Who should win: It's just that Lea Michelle the newcomer from Glee robs my heart, I might have to go with this one!
Dark Horse: Courtney Cox, never nominated, never won! Despite her successful BFF, we always want Monica to win too!
COMEDY ACTOR:
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Steve Carell, The Office
David Duchovny, Californication
Thomas Jane, Hung
Matthew Morrison, Glee
Who will win: Alec Baldwin for the same reason like last year, and the year before! Jack Donaghy is my favorite! and Globe's favorite and SAG, and Emmy's!
Who should win: Alec Baldwin!
Dark Horse: It's easy to say that Matthew Morrison is my favorite newbie!
SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Jane Adams, Hung
Rose Byrne, Damages
Jane Lynch, Glee
Janet McTeer, Into the Storm
Chloe Sevigny, Big Love
Who will win: Antagonist, Jane Lynch! Nobody knows her better than we all do! Nobody does it better than her, we know that, Globes knows that!
Who should win: (same like who will win! Jane Lynch for winning!)
Dark Horse: Rose Byrne! Talented actress, overshadowed by Close!
SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Michael Emerson, Lost
Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother
William Hurt, Damages
John Lithgow, Dexter
Jeremy Piven, Entourage
Who will win: Michael Emerson, yup Ben is 2nd most chilling villain after Juliet Burke! :) Plus gives a reason for him to win with that Emmy's in the pocket!
Who should win: Michael Emerson!
Dark Horse: honestly , no idea :(
So, we can see how acurate I am when globe airs 2mrrw!
xoxo,
C
