rants, thoughts, and blabs about Oscar Nomination and Prediction

Finally, we can all breath out and take a sip of Margarita because the Oscar nomination is here! With that, I can start blabbing about the possible winner, the snubs, and everything! Awww..
Let us start..

BEST PICTURE
Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

Who will win: It's tough to make a prediction with 10 nominations. However, according to what I see throughout the award season, it's between Avatar, The Hurt Locker, and Inglorious Basterds. However, fat chance I'll say that Oscar will give this one to Inglorious Basterds for its outstanding cast and plot. Remember in Oscar, they prefer the wholeout performance not only how great the movie looks like!

Who should win: It's tough to say, but I think Avatar deserves this award, I mean with all those years of preparation this movie is like the golden child of James Cameron. Plus, the way that this movie plays out in our brain is fantastic. I know it's mainstream but what's wrong for trying it out once, besides it's James Cameron's work!

Dark Horse: How about a movie about a young woman exploring the beauty of Paris with much older guys? An Education can be riding the dark horse, however this movie is outstanding. Well, keep your eyes on The Blind Side which is considered one of the most successful movie of 2009 for its touching and very American theme plot or even the cute and entertaining animated Up.

SNUBS:
With 10 nominations and no spot for Nine, wow! That's gotta be the biggest snub ever! I mean, this movie is made for Oscar and yet, they didn't give out for best picture! Another one is the comedic The Hangover or (500) Days of Summer

BEST DIRECTOR
James Cameron, Avatar
Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds
Lee Daniels, Precious
Jason Reitman, Up in the Air

Who will win:
I think this is a no brainer, I'll say, Kathryn Bigelow. With her almost taking every awards during this award season, there are no way that Bigelow won't be winning this golden statue! Well, except her ex-husband, James Cameron beats her to it!

Who should win: I'd love to see another winning for James Cameron. He always manages to make a masterpiece out of the scratch. It's like he has this big scrapbook in his brain. GENIUS! However, with my inner feminism speaking, I'd point out Kathryn Bigelow for the winning part

Dark Horse: Quentin Tarantino is riding the dark horse here, but careful guys, he can make some surprises. Hollywood does respect him and he is pointed out as the genius and quirky one. So if he wins, there's no biggie in here!

SNUBS: I keep thinking how no award show is nominating Peter Jackson or Rob Marshall. Both had done tremendous outstanding works and they should be nominated, don't you think?

BEST ACTOR
Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
George Clooney, Up in the Air
Colin Firth, A Single Man
Morgan Freeman, Invictus
Jeremy Renner, The Hurt Locker

Who will win: A no brainer once again, Jeff Bridges who has been snagging all the winning throughout the season will be waltzing home with this one!

Who should win : Oh jeez, I'm not Clooney's swooning fans but you know what, I love him in Up in the air. He's still charming but you don't picture the goof ball, fun, and eligible bachelor Clooney, he's totally in his character!

Dark Horse: I'll keep pointing out Colin Firth to make some surprise. In this movie, he played as gay, very torn, very Oscar favorite, who knows right?

SNUBS: Well, I keep having Daniel Day Lewis or Joseph Gordon L in my mind when I'm making nominations prediction. I think it's no fair that this year, Oscar completely snubs the whole musical thing! Hey, give some love!

BEST ACTRESS
Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Helen Mirren, The Last Station
Carey Mulligan, An Education
Gabourey Sibide, Precious
Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia

Who will win: It's a torn decision to choose between Meryl Streep or Sandra Bullock as a winner. However, according to my calculation, Meryl who is in her 16th nomination and run for the 3rd Oscar may have to give this one to Bullock. Everybody loves the first timer and Bullock here got the benefit of this!

Who should win: See, this will drive me crazy. Okay, Bullock, Streep, Bullock, Streep, What about just give a tie? Then we're done huh?

Dark Horse: Newcomer Carey Mulligan is the one that we always point out as dark horse. She's sweet, charming, and fresh. She'll be back with some more nominations!

SNUBS: Again, where's Marion Cottilard? Hey!

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Matt Damon, Invictus
Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
Christopher Plummer, The Last Station
Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds

Who will win: Easy! Christoph Waltz, the intimidating Nazi will absolutely take home this one!

Who should win: Again, Christoph Waltz has been my favorite ever since I watched Inglorious Basterds!

Dark Horse: Oh well, the super villain of the Lovely Bones, Stanely Tucci might win this award if there's no Christoph Waltz. That's all I'm saying

SNUBS: Oh well, in this, there's no significant snubs, phew, thank God!

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Penelope Cruz, Nine
Vera Farmiga, Up in the Air
Maggie Gyllenhaal, Crazy Heart
Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air
Mo'Nique, Precious

Who will win: It's Mo'Nique who already booked her position of winning the prize. Oh well, you can see it from the consecutive wins!

Who should win: Oh why do I keep saying that I'd love another win for Penelope Cruz. It's gotta be cool having two wins in the same category! For some reason too, she's an amazing actress and embraces her role in Nine, smoothly!

Dark Horse: Hey, we never expected Maggie Gyllenhaal to be nominated but look at her! Well, she's definitely the dark horse here.

SNUBS: I think for better or worse, I'll say Julianne Moore should be nominated but oh well, maybe next year!

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
The Hurt Locker, Mark Boal
Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino
The Messenger, Alessandro Camon and Oren Moverman
A Serious Man, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
Up, Screenplay by Bob Peterson, Pete Docter; Story by Bob Peterson, Pete Docter, and Tom McCarthy

Who will win: Oh no brainer with no up in the air here, it's Inglorious Basterds. Queentin Tarantino has created a very quirky, bombshell dropping script!

Who should win: Two words: Inglorious Basterds!

Dark Horse:
Known for their genius in writing script, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen can be the winner in this category

SNUBS: Where is It's Complicated? It has an amazing script, so why no love for this one? :(

(I'm not going to the whole technical in here, because frankly, it's hard to make that kind of prediction)

Grammy's: the most outrageous red carpet as always

Yes, as always, Grammy's will always be infamous for its outrageous, edgy, fashion forward Red Carpet. Here are some of the highlights in Red Carpet for the evening:

#1 Lady Gaga in Armani Prive
rated: ♥♥♥♥1/2

This is case where her quirkiness actually worked! I mean, the dress was undoubtedly unique, looking like some kind of spiral futuristic look. Of course, her hair was looking pretty marvelous and the make up, oh finally, something normal!

#2 Marissa Miller
rated: ♥♥♥1/2

Well, this what I'd like to call, safe look. Here Marissa Miller didn't do much with the dress, the Victoria Angels babe kept it simple and the hair do was pretty much the same. However, you know what they say, simplicity works the best!

#3 Katy Perry in Zac Posen
rated: ♥♥♥

First of all, I just wanna say that the dress looked a bit linen-y. Second, I don't think the whole metallic flower worked out perfectly. Eventually, it came to a conclusion that Miss Perry didn't look fab in this dress!

#4 Lea Michele
rated: ♥♥♥♥3/4

One of my best dressed picks for the night! I love the detailed poodle-y skirt and of course, I think Lea Michele dressed up properly for her age as usual and looked stunning. Bravo!

#5 Beyonce
rated: ♥♥♥♥

I don't think dress was Beyonce's. I mean it's her big night, she should be wearing something even more glamorous. Instead she opted for some nude which didn't really shine in Red Carpet. However,I'm in love with her hair do! She looked totally stunning in that hair color. :D

#6 Heidi Klum
rated: ♥♥♥♥

I think Heidi's look last night was a hit! I love the nude dress better than the one in Beyonce. I mean, this one looked more glamorous, trendy, and comfortable to wear. Of course, it's Heidi Klum, she always opted for fun, flirty look!

#7 Fergie
rated: ♥♥♥♥

Halelujah! Finally! It's about time for Fergie to wear something in bright color. After few of fashion disappointment, Ms. Fergie brought back the it with gorgeous electric blue dress!
And yeah, I'm loving the beauty pageant looked like detail here, anyone?

#8 Pink
rated: ♥♥

First when I looked at the dress, I went wow before I came down to see the inappropriate Mermaid Detail. I guess, if they left the dress without that detail, it'd have been magical!

#9 Carrie Underwood
rated: ♥♥♥♥1/2

For instance, I'd say that she looked fabulous in that white dress! It was slightly unique and very creative of her to choose this kind of dress. Plus, I love her hair, reminds me of Jennifer Aniston's Rachel!

#10 Taylor Swift
rated: ♥♥♥♥3/4

Glamorous dress, great hair do, and gorgeous make up? Taylor Swift was dressed down for the night!

#11 Miley Cyrus
rated: ♥♥♥♥

For once, Miley actually looked like a teenager in here. Well, not so much but still..it's better than never! However, one thing that's bothering me, the hair extension! It looked like, it was overdo!

#12 Rihanna
rated: ♥♥ 1/2

I don't know why but I think Rihanna can do better than that! The neckline was a bit blah, and of course, I didn't like the hair do. So yeah, I guess I know the reason!

#13 Ke$ha
rated: ♥♥1/2

Two words: trashy rockstar! haha..

xoxo,
